Oldham Optical: Industrial Optics

Apart from the astronomical part of the business, Oldham Optical has the capacity and tooling to manufacture single prototypes and low volume runs of all types of optical components used  in industry.

This range includes optical flats and windows, concave and convex mirrors, Cassegrain Pairs, lens's and prisms. All can be produced to very high tolerances.

Curved surfaces may be spherical, but aspheric components are a particular speciality and we can produce parabolic or hyperbolic shapes to any required conic constant.

Spherical surfaces and mirrors in many shapes can be produced to faster than F/1 and Parabolic Mirrors to faster than F/1.5 without any particular difficulty.

We produce unusual optical components for niche markets. Gas Analyser Optics are one such niche. Where mirror weight is important we can produce very thin mirrors while maintaining the surface accuracy.

 We can either manufacture to your own bespoke design or can produce the full design in-house from a simple remit.

The illustrations on this page are just a very small sample of the items we design and produce for our industrial customers.

For high value optical equipment that becomes damaged we can produce replacement or equivalent parts for the equipment to return it to service. 

We produce equivalents for the various types of optical components imbedded in common optical equipment.

Optical curved surfaces require extremely accurate cutting, grinding and polishing tools designed for that particular curve and size of optic. Oldham Optical carries a wide range of tooling for common curves and applications.

If we do not have the specific tooling required already "on the shelf", for your particular application, we can usually design and produce the new tooling at fairly short notice.

We can also act as consultants on optical projects planning new equipment or trouble shoot problems with existing equipment. We can investigate, test and produce reports on optical equipment performance.
